About Steve
After studying bass trombone at Humber College in Toronto, Steve Guerin joined the Central
Band of the Canadian Forces. In 1986, Steve was posted to CFB Baden-Soellingen (Germany)
where he led the Baden Rube Band for four years. He returned to Canada in 1989 and has
been in Ottawa ever since. Steve has recently retired from 25 years service with the Air
Force. He is now a member of the Foot Guards Band in Ottawa.
In addition to his military musical duties which have taken him across Canada, Europe and the
U.S., Steve has performed with:
Fat City 8, the Red Squares, the Priorities , The Funky Presidents
Vern Isaac, Bill Jupp, Rejean Gauvrault, Grey Jazz Big Bands
Symphonium, The Ottawa Wind Ensemble, The Centralaires, The Ottawa Firemen's Band,
Cathedral Brass, Maple Leaf Brass Band as well as his own bands and ensembles. He has
performed with Gladys Knight, Carol Channing, Rob McConnell and since the Fall of 2006,
Steve has been touring the U.S. and Canada with Holly Larocque and the Mark Ferguson
Orchestra.
Steve repairs trombones at Musicare and has acquired a great knowledge of brass instruments
and mouthpieces.
An accomplished bass trombonist, Steve also plays tenor trombone, euphonium, sousaphone
and tuba. Steve is a proud member of the American Federation of Musicians local 180 and
serves on its Executive Board.
