| About Steve: After studying bass trombone at Humber College in Toronto, Steve Guerin joined the Central Band of the Canadian Forces. In 1986, Steve was posted to CFB Baden-Soellingen (Germany) where he led the Baden Rube Band for four years. He returned to Canada in 1989 and has been in Ottawa ever since. Steve has recently retired from 25 years service in the military. In addition to his military musical duties which have taken him across Canada, Europe and the U.S., Steve has played with bands such as The Funky Presidents, Fat City 8, the Red Squares, the Priorities and most big bands in Ottawa. He has performed at the Ottawa International Jazz Festival and the Montreal Jazz Festival , the National Art Centre, the Casino de Hull, and a number of venues in the Ottawa-Hull area. He has performed with the Cathedral Brass as well as with his own brass ensemble . Since the Fall of 2006, Steve has been touring the U.S. and Canada with Holly Larocque and the Mark Ferguson Orchestra. Steve repairs trombones at Musicare and has acquired a great knowledge of brass instruments and mouthpieces. An accomplished bass trombonist, Steve also plays tenor trombone, euphonium, sousaphone and tuba. Steve Guerin is a member of the American Federation of Musicians local 180 and serves on its Executive Board. |
