After studying bass trombone at Humber College in Toronto, Steve Guerin joined the Central Band of the Canadian Forces. In addition to his military musical duties which have taken him across Canada, Europe and the U.S., Steve has performed at the Ottawa International Jazz Festival, the Montreal Jazz Festival, the National Art Centre, the Theatre du Casino, and various venues in the Ottawa- Gatineau area. An accomplished bass trombonist, Steve also plays tenor trombone, euphonium, flugabone, trombonium, contra-bass trombone, sousaphone and tuba all of which he proudly owns. He is equally at ease playing musicals, R&B, jazz, chamber and orchestral music.
Highlights of Steve career include touring Canada and the U.S. with Holly Larocque and the Mark Ferguson Orchestra, playing with Gladys Knight and Aretha Franklin at the Ottawa Jazz Festival, conducting the Baden Rube Band for four years while stationed at CFB Baden-Soellingen, and meeting his idol, legendary bass trombonist George Roberts.
Steve is a member in good standing of AFM local 180. He has retired from over 25 years in the Air Force and now resides in beautiful Perth, Ontario with his wife Alexandra.
